NCAA, NFL Championship Rings Taken From Kirkwood Home

KIRKWOOD, MO (KMOX) ? An alleged Christmas Eve burglary in Kirkwood netted two burglars some unique jewelery.

Police say it occurred at 1:28 p.m. on December 31 when a neighbor spotted two men carrying a television from a home and called police. The suspects dropped the TV and escaped in a vehicle.

The men, 25-year-old James Bright of Fenton and 26-year-old Jeffrey Medcalf of Ballwin, were arrested a few days later at their homes. According to police, the two said that three gold NCAA football rings and one gold NFL championship ring for the Chicago Bears were among the loot which had since been sold to a Missouri Gold Buyers store in St. Louis County.

Some employees at the store allegedly denied seeing the jewelry and it has not yet been recovered. Meanwhile, Bright and Medcalf each face one count of second-degree burglary and one count of stealing over $25,000. They are being held on $50,000 bond.

Kirkwood Police did not identify the victim by name.
