Rihanna and Chris Brown are back together again! 2012's most controversial couple were caught flying into the Ivory Coast where Breezy is scheduled to perform. Watch the video here or below:

Rihanna joined Chris Brown on his trip to Africa, where the rapper-singer-dancer is set to play a set at the Kora Awards tonight. Our question is: will RiRi join Breezy onstage?

It's been a long time since Rihanna and Chris Brown were together onstage. Over the past few months RiRi has been trying to keep her relationship with Breezy a secret. But the two are clearly back together again and dating. They've been spotted cozying up in public around the world?and tweeting pictures of each other, prompting rumors that a secret marriage may be in the works or that the Bajan beauty may be pregnant.

Rihanna and Chris Brown were recently spotted together in LA at a Lakers-Knicks game, where the controversial couple sat side-by-side, but managed to keep their hands of each other for the entire night--or at least until they got home.

If Chris Brown and Rihanna are getting ready to go public that they are back together again then a performance at the Kora Awards, which Perez Hilton calls the "Sub-Saharan Africa's version of the Grammy's."

The appearance of Rihanna and Chris Brown together earlier today at the African airport has sparked rumors that RiRi may join Breezy onstage for his scheduled performance, driving up ticket sales, according to Slate Afrique.

The French-language news-site noted that it appears Rihanna and Chris Brown will use the opportunity in Africa to officially tell the world that they're back together.

In a video interview with some of the Kora Award organizers, one French-speaking man hints that Rihanna and Chris Brown may get back together onstage for a moment he described as "magical." You can watch the full interview here?via grandpoucet.

Rihanna and Chris Brown's appearance in Africa together certainly too us by surprise. We're still betting that the rumors about RiRi and Breezy's secret New Years marriage are true. The controversial couple can still make it back to Barbados for their wedding before 2013 begins, but it looks like they may just make it in time!

Rihanna and Chris Brown have been back together in secret for the past few years. Even while Breezy was dating Karrueche, rumors that he was seeing RiRi on the side continued to fly. Pretty much everyone was sad to hear that the Bajan beauty was together again with the man who brutally assaulted her in 2009, when they were publicly dating.

Immediately after the assault Rihanna dumped Chris Brown. Breezy's still on probation today, but Rihanna has told the world that she's forgiven her ex-boyfriend, and it looks like it may be to late to stop the controversial couple from getting back together again.

Rihanna even decided to feature Chris Brown on "Nobody's Business," one of the songs of her new album "Unapologetic." So the message is pretty clear: RiRi and Breezy are back together, it's nobody's business, and they are not apologizing!

Then again, it looks like Rihanna and Chris Brown may get back together onstage in Africa tonight!

HOW TO CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS WITHOUT DEBT AND STRESS

God intends for Christmas to be a time of rest, reflection, and joy as you celebrate His Son, Jesus, coming to Earth. Yet, too often, Christmas ends up being the most stressful time of year, filled with unrelenting pressure to spend more than you can afford and to do more than you have time for in your schedule. Giving into the pressure yet again this year will only leave you with burdens: debt that lasts far longer than the stuff you purchased, and regret that you didn?t enjoy the peaceful Christmas that God wanted you to enjoy.

This year you can celebrate Christmas without overextending yourself. Here?s how: Shape your attitude. Although the Christmas season can be so stressful that it makes you feel out of control, the truth is that you always have the power to control how you spend the Christmas season ? you can do so by choosing your attitude. If you choose an attitude of being determined to enjoy Christmas while also refusing to spend money you don?t have to pay for it, you can reach your goal of celebrating Christmas without debt and stress. Keep in mind that there are two distinct aspects of Christmas: the emotional side, and the financial side. If you decide to keep the two aspects separate (rather than mixing them together, thinking that you have to spend lots of money in order to feel satisfied at Christmas), you?ll be free to create a reasonable Christmas plan and stick to it.

Develop a plan. Write a plan for your family?s Christmas this year, starting with a purpose statement describing what you all would like Christmas to be like this year and why. Consider how to best express your family?s values through the ways you celebrate Christmas, and plan to invest your time and money into activities that will reflect those values. Study your budget and a calendar to look realistically at the amount of money and time you?ll have available this upcoming Christmas season, and decide to make your plans within those limits so you can truly enjoy Christmas without worrying about overextending yourself. Aim for at least these basic elements of a successful Christmas: a relaxed and loving time to worship Jesus and spend time with family and friends, realistic expectations about gifts, an evenly paced Christmas season schedule, and reliable family traditions.

Use cash. Decide to use only or mostly cash to pay for your Christmas expenses. If you do decide to use a credit card, do so only to shop online, where it?s dangerous to use a debit card (debit cards don?t provide fraud protection like credit cards do). Make sure that you pay off any credit card purchases in full so you won?t incur any interest charges. Set aside cash for shopping in stores by: determining who you?ll be buying gifts for this year and how much you want to spend on each person, labeling an envelope with each person?s name and inserting the right amount of cash in each envelope, and placing the envelopes in a safe place so you can access them when you go shopping. If you don?t currently have all the cash you want to have for Christmas, think creatively about how you can earn extra cash before Christmas arrives, such as by working odd jobs or temporarily cutting back on expenses such as eating out.

Deal wisely with holiday dilemmas for big groups. It can be awkward trying to figure out how to deal with gift exchanges within big groups, such as extended families and office coworkers. One solution that can work well is to ask each person in the group to write a wish list describing some kinds of gifts that he or she would truly enjoy within a certain price limit. Then, rather than simply drawing names draw wish lists. That way everyone can give meaningful gifts and receive something they?ll really like, while also keeping costs down. Give inexpensive yet caring gifts. Since gifts are messengers meant to convey your love to the people you give them to, you should avoid giving cheap presents to people. But you don?t have to go into debt in order to provide good gifts to the people on your Christmas list. Prepare to choose the right kinds of gifts by getting to know what matters to the people to whom you want to give presents this year. Observe and listen for clues about what each person enjoys. If you?re not sure what someone would enjoy, don?t hesitate to ask. Keep in mind that you don?t have to purchase every gift; instead, you can make gifts by hand or give your time and talents to someone (everything from cooking or cleaning for them to fixing their car or computer). It could be very meaningful for you to honor people by supporting the causes that they support. If you know someone who?s passionate about helping the environment or animals, plant a tree or adopt a pet in his or her honor. If you want to honor someone who cares deeply about helping sick people become well, become a living donor of blood, a kidney, or bone marrow to people in need. When considering giving to charities, research each one carefully so you know exactly how they will use the money or goods you plan to give.

Give gifts from your kitchen or garden. Most people love to eat, so they?d appreciate a delicious yet inexpensive gift of something you?ve either made in your kitchen or grown in your garden. You can present such gifts elegantly in gift jars or baskets. Find bargains when you?re shopping. Look for sales, use coupons and other discounts, and consider alternatives to your local mall, such as art supply stores, office supply stores, and hardware stores. Use caution at outlets, since products there may defective. When purchasing gift cards, avoid those that charge service fees or don?t give people change back in cash when they use them. Give family gifts rather than individual ones. Consider giving one gift to an entire family instead of individual gifts to each person in that family. Some family gift ideas include: a calendar, a cookbook, or a gift basket.

Cut back on decorating expenses. Use what you have around the house to make your own wrapping paper and decorate your door, table, and mantel. Buy an inexpensive, real Christmas tree, decorate it simply yet elegantly, and recycle or replant it after Christmas. Entertain guests without stress. When hosting family and friends at your home during the Christmas season, keep in mind that they?re more interested in spending time with you than they are in having you impress them. Relax, be yourself, and enjoy your time with them. Adapted from Debt-Proof Your Christmas: Celebrating the Holidays without Breaking the Bank.

NHL makes new offer; lockout enters critical stage

NEW YORK (AP) ? The NHL's latest offer to the players' association was enough for the sides to make plans to meet this weekend.

Deputy commissioner Bill Daly said Friday the league presented its proposal Thursday. The sides haven't met in person since a second round of talks with a federal mediator broke down Dec. 13.

The NHL and the players' association are expected to talk via conference call on Saturday, and have tentative plans to meet Sunday in New York.

The league's comprehensive new offer, that is several hundred pages in length, was still being reviewed by the union Friday night. The players' association's executive board and negotiating committee went over the proposal during an internal conference call.

"We delivered to the union a new, comprehensive proposal for a successor CBA," Daly said in a statement Friday. "We are not prepared to discuss the details of our proposal at this time. We are hopeful that once the union's staff and negotiating committee have had an opportunity to thoroughly review and consider our new proposal, they will share it with the players. We want to be back on the ice as soon as possible."

The league would like to have a deal in place by Jan. 11, begin training camps the following day and start the regular season by Jan. 19.

The lockout has reached its 104th day, and the NHL said it doesn't want a season of less than 48 games. That means a deal would need to be reached mid-January.

A person familiar with key points of the offer told The Associated Press that the league proposed raising the limit of individual free-agent contracts to six years from five ? seven years if a team re-signs its own player; raising the salary variance from one year to another to 10 percent, up from 5 percent; and one compliance buyout for the 2013-14 season that wouldn't count toward a team's salary cap but would be included in the overall players' share of income.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because details of the new offer were not being discussed publicly.

The NHL maintained the deferred payment amount of $300 million it offered in its previous proposal, an increase from an earlier offer of $211 million. The initial $300 million offer was pulled off the table after negotiations broke off earlier this month.

The latest proposal is for 10 years, running through the 2021-22 season, with both sides having the right to opt out after eight years.

A conference call with the players' association's negotiating committee and its executive board was scheduled for Friday afternoon and was expected to last several hours.

The lockout has reached a critical stage, threatening to shut down a season for the second time in eight years. All games through Jan. 14, plus the Winter Classic and the All-Star game already have been called off. The next round of cuts could claim the entire schedule.

The NHL is the only North American professional sports league to cancel a season because of a labor dispute, losing the 2004-05 campaign to a lockout. A 48-game season was played in 1995 after a lockout stretched into January.

It is still possible this dispute could eventually be settled in the courts if the sides can't reach a deal on their own.

The NHL filed a class-action suit this month in U.S. District Court in New York in an effort to show its lockout is legal. In a separate move, the league filed an unfair labor practice charge with the National Labor Relations Board, contending bad-faith bargaining by the union.

Those moves were made because the players' association took steps toward potentially filing a "disclaimer of interest," which would dissolve the union and make it a trade association. That would allow players to file antitrust lawsuits against the NHL.

Union members voted overwhelmingly to give their board the power to file the disclaimer by Jan. 2. If that deadline passes, another authorization vote could be held to approve a later filing.

Negotiations between the NHL and the union have been at a standstill since talks ended Dec. 6. One week later, the sides convened again with federal mediators in New Jersey, but still couldn't make progress.

The sides have been unable to reach agreement on the length of the new deal, the length of individual player contracts, and the variance in salary from year to year. The NHL is looking for an even split of revenues with players.

The NHL pulled all previous offers off the table after the union didn't agree to terms on its last proposal without negotiation.

Oil down slightly as fiscal-cliff talks continue

NEW YORK (AP) ? The price of oil fell slightly Friday, as the stock market drifted lower and efforts continued in Washington to strike a budget deal before the year-end deadline.

U.S. benchmark crude fell 7 cents to finish at $90.80 a barrel.

Hopes that a budget compromise might be reached were still alive as congressional leaders met with President Barack Obama at the White House. The Republican-dominated House is set to meet Sunday and stay in session until Jan. 2, the day before the new Congress is sworn in. Without a budget deal, automatic tax hikes and government spending cuts could send the economy into recession, economists say.

Traders are also weighing rising energy supplies.

Phil Flynn, of the Price Futures Group, said that a government report Friday showed U.S. oil production hit its highest point since March of 1993, at nearly 7 million barrels per day.

The Energy Department's Energy Information Administration said that U.S. crude supplies fell by 600,000 barrels last week but were still 13 percent above year-ago levels. Analysts expected a drop of 2 million barrels, according to Platts, the energy information arm of McGraw-Hill Cos. Supplies at the crude delivery hub in Cushing, Okla., rose to an all-time high of 49.2 million barrels, more than 20 million barrels above year-ago levels.

Gasoline supplies increased by 3.8 million barrels, well above the 250,000-barrel increase that analysts forecast. Demand for gasoline at the wholesale level is nearly 3 percent lower than a year ago.

Flynn also said traders were looking beyond the fiscal cliff to supply changes in the new year. Next month the pipeline flow between Cushing and Texas will increase. That means more buyers can access that oil, so Flynn expects higher prices for crude. And with much of the nation facing its real first cold snap of the winter ? with the coldest temperatures in two years ? Flynn said many traders expect more demand for petroleum products.

In other energy futures trading on the Nymex:

? Wholesale gasoline fell 2 cents to end at $2.80 a gallon.

? Heating oil fell 3 cents to finish at $3.04 a gallon.

? Natural gas rose 6 cents to end at $3.47 per 1,000 cubic feet.

In London, Brent crude, used to price various kinds of foreign oil, fell 18 cents to finish at $110.62 a barrel on the ICE Futures exchange.

Apple CEO's pay takes big hit vs. record 2011 package

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Apple Inc CEO Tim Cook's 2012 compensation package of $4.17 million (2.58 million pounds) is a huge cut on paper for the top executive of the most valuable U.S. corporation, after a 2011 package fattened by more than $376 million (233 million pounds) in long-term stock awards.

Cook received the largest single pay package awarded to a company CEO in about a decade when he replaced Apple (NasdaqGS: AAPL - news) co-founder Steve Jobs in August last year, shortly before the Silicon Valley legend's death in October 2011.

The maker of the iPhone and iPad made the 2012 compensation disclosures in a regulatory filing on Thursday. Cook, 52, has been with Apple since 1998.

Virtually all of Cook's $376 million stock bonus in 2011 was in awards that vest in two chunks - one in 2016 and the other in 2021. This structure was intended to keep Jobs' longtime lieutenant at the helm for many years, as the value of the stock will depend on how well the company is doing in 2016 and 2021.

Cook, who is credited with masterminding a sprawling but efficient Asian supply chain, has generally received high marks for his first year for shepherding several successful gadget launches, including the iPhone 5.

But he was forced to make a public apology in September after the company launched a mapping service application riddled with glaring geographical errors. The Maps app fiasco contributed to the departure of fellow Apple veteran and software chief Scott Forstall.

In addition, some analysts questioned whether Cook, whose only major new product since taking the helm was a smaller version of the iPad that Jobs propelled into the mainstream in 2010, has the vision to produce the next big product category and sustain historically stellar growth for Apple as global mobile competition intensifies.

"The jury is still out in terms of the job he is doing," said fund manager Tim Ghriskey, whose Solaris Group counts Apple stock as the biggest holding among the approximately $2 billion it manages.

But he added that the company's long-term prospects look strong, particularly if it rolls out oft-rumoured television products in the next few years.

As of Thursday's close, Apple shares were almost 37 percent higher than when Cook became CEO 16 months ago. However, since a record-high close of $702.10 on September 19, the stock has fallen almost 27 percent.

Ghriskey said Wall Street remained nervous about the growing popularity of Google Inc (NasdaqGS: GOOG - news) 's Android phone software, used by global smartphone leader Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, and potential margin pressure from that intensifying competition.

In terms of base salary, Cook actually received a 50 percent increase to $1.4 million for 2012, and the same 200 percent non-equity bonus other top Apple executives like CFO Peter Oppenheimer earned, Apple said in the Thursday filing ahead of a February 27 shareholders' meeting.

Cook's 2012 package includes a nonequity bonus of $2.8 million.

Despite the increase, Apple said Cook's target annual cash compensation is "significantly below the median annual cash compensation level for CEOs at peer companies." It also said that Cook will not receive any stock awards for 2012.

Cook's latest compensation package also pales in comparison to his package in 2010, when he was chief operating officer. That package was 14 times higher.

A company spokesman would not comment beyond the filing.

Jobs famously received $1 a year in salary in the three years before he stepped down, though in 2000 he too received a stock option that analysts say was valued at almost $600 million at the time.

Looking beyond Apple, Yahoo Inc (NasdaqGS: YHOO - news) 's CEO, Marissa Mayer, a former Google Inc high-flyer hired this year to try to turn around the struggling Internet icon, won a pay package worth more than $70 million. Despite her lack of a track record as CEO and Yahoo's tiny size in comparison, her basic pay is comparable to Cook's, with about $1 million in annual salary and up to $2 million in an annual bonus.

Oracle Corp's Larry Ellison, one of the most highly paid U.S. chief executives - and also the world's sixth-richest man, according to Forbes - received total compensation for the year ended May 31, 2012, of $96.2 million - almost all of it in stock options. That compared with $77.6 million in 2011.

According to a study of the Fortune 500 conducted by Forbes this year, CEOs were paid a base salary of $1.1 million in 2011 on average, with the mean annual bonus at $2.4 million and average total compensation - including stock awards - at around $17 million.

Apple shares closed up 0.4 percent at $515.06 on the Nasdaq on Thursday.

Malawi analysts look for improved politics, economy in 2013 ...

Malawi ?political scientists and human rights campaigners are looking back at 2012 as a year of both progress and setbacks. Over the past 12 months, Malawi gained its first woman president after the death of president Bingu wa Mutharika.

And, though the economy grew slowly, there was a return of donors who had withdrawn aid in protest over Mutharika?s human rights and governance policies.

Mustapha Hussein, a political scientist at Chancellor College of the University of Malawi in Zomba, says ?there have been ups and downs and some negative things as well as positive things. On the positive side, the current government [of President Joyce Banda] has tried to stabilize the political environment. Politically, Malawi can be said to be stable. Unlike Bingu?s regime, there are no tensions between or among parties or between government and its citizens.?

Cry Bingu wa Mutharika: Hussein says Mutharika?s death?gave hope for changes for both on the political front as well as on the economic front.

Hussein says despite the stable political atmosphere, the country has not been faring well on the economic front.

?The issue of devaluation and floatation of the kwacha,? he says, ?has led to price increases that are affecting the disposable income of the people. They are suffering economically and the economic?status?of Malawi is fragile.?

Hussein says the change in the country?s top leadership helped calm the country?s contentious political atmosphere.

?The death of Bingu wa Mutharika was a sad occasion,? he says, ?but at the same time, it gave hope for changes for both on the political front as well as on the economic front.? Prior to that there were political tensions; there were misunderstandings between the government and civil society which culminated in the demonstration in July (2011) where we lost lives.?

However some Malawians have been accusing human rights groups of deliberately muting their criticisms of the new administration. They say the administration has failed to respond to consumers affected by currency devaluation and price hikes.

But human rights activist Billy Banda, who is the executive director for a rights lobby group Malawi Watch, says they were silent because they wanted to build support for the new government considering the many problems it had inherited.

?We were not deliberately keeping quiet,? he says, ?but were lobbying silently so that the new administration [with its difficulties] ?would be given sufficient support. But by giving support, that does not necessarily mean that were condoning the current administration.? We are urging the administration to open a?window?of interaction so that whenever people raise concerns they should take heed.?

In her Christmas?address?to the nation,President Joyce Banda cited the country?s struggling economy and asked Malawians to remain patient.? She did so amid threats of protests by the Consumers Association of Malawi over the rising cost of imported fuel and farm inputs.? They?ve contributed to a drop in living standards.

Analysts say the success of the new year depends in part on whether the government?s austerity measures ? blamed by some for increasing hardships ? can help turn around the economy.

Ouya developer kits are shipping, $99 Android game console ...

The makers of the Ouya video game console have started shipping developer kits to folks who paid $699 or more during the team?s successful Kickstarter campaign. The company plans to start shipping Ouya units to customers early in 2013, with the video game console selling for about $99 plus shipping.

ouya

SlashGear reports the first units should begin arriving this week.

The Ouya game console is a small box with an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, WiFi, Bluetooth, a USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet, and HDMI ports.

It runs Google Android software, but it?s not a phone or a tablet. Instead the Ouya console is designed to be plugged into your television so you can play games on the big screen. It also includes a wireless game controller, a game store, and more.

The developer consoles come with two controllers ? but their main appeal is that they?re shipping a few months ahead of the final units, which should give game developers (or serious enthusiasts) a chance to try out the device before it?s available to the general public, and adapt games to run on the platform.

While there?s no shortage of video game consoles for the living room, the developers of the Ouya project want to lower the barriers to entry for independent game developers. Basically, if you can create a game that runs on Android, it can run on Ouya ? you don?t need to go through the hassle of signing with a game publisher, packaging the title on a disc and distributing it to game stores.

On the other hand, the Ouya is expected to ship to regular customers in early 2013 with hardware that was state of the art in early 2012. While you can still write some pretty nifty games for the Tegra 3 processor, Samsung and Qualcomm are already offering mobile processors with significantly more graphics power, and NVIDIA is expected to launch a Tegra 4 chip soon.

Will the Ouya feel dated by the time it finally arrives? Then again? with a $99 price tag, does it really matter?

Quentin Tarantino's 'Django Unchained' is entertaining, but the same old schtick

'Django' shows Tarantino has perfected his game, but will the director ever move beyond his usual fare?

By Peter Rainer,?Film critic / December 25, 2012

'Django Unchained' stars Leonardo DiCaprio (r.) and Jamie Foxx (l.).

Where would Quentin Tarantino be without pulp? All of his movies, not just ?Pulp Fiction? and ?Kill Bill? and the rest, but also the ones he wrote but did not direct, like ?Natural Born Killers? and ?True Romance,? mainline blood and guts and grunge. A better question might be: Where would Tarantino be without violence? But it?s violence of a special sort: shockingly explicit and yet not to be taken altogether seriously (even though some of us do).

Set in the pre-Civil War South, his new film, ?Django Unchained,? is like a spaghetti-western burlesque of ?Mandingo.? A bounty hunter from Germany named Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz), posing as a dentist with a giant bobbing tooth hooked to the top of his carriage, comes upon a pack of rednecks guarding a chain gang and offers to buy one of their slaves, the strapping Django (Jamie Foxx).

Since this is a Tarantino movie, they will violently refuse and violently be put down for their troubles. The tone is set: Absurdity (that giant tooth) plus bloodshed (not ketchup) plus graveyard humor (Waltz has all the best lines, and he knows it). It develops that Django, on a mission to recover Hildi (Kerry Washington), the wife from whom he was torn apart, becomes Schultz?s partner. Among other things, this means he gets to obliterate a lot of white racists as the two of them carve their way to the plantation, Candyland, where Hildi is being held. It?s a love story crossed with a buddy movie.

Instead of trying to buy Hildi outright, which might be too obvious, they pretend to be in the market for a mandingo fighter. Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio), the plantation owner, is a sniggling little tyrant, but he?s taken in by the ruse until Stephen (Samuel L. Jackson), who runs the household, sniffs it out. In a crew of mostly bad guys, Stephen is probably the worst of the worst. This is perhaps the most politically incorrect role a black man has ever played since ?The Birth of a Nation? ? and, come to think of it, white actors played black actors in that movie.

Tarantino wants to merge the high-style bloodshed of the spaghetti westerns with the racial payback of the blaxploitation movies. (Django?s name is a homage to a spaghetti western icon and Hildi?s full name is Broomhilda von Shaft.) There?s a strong dose of fantasy wish-fulfillment here, just as there was in ?Inglourious Basterds,? in which Jewish soldiers end up incinerating Hitler and his henchmen. In ?Django Unchained,? Django?s righteousness is a license to kill those who enchained him.
