September is here and that means we?ve got a new digital scrapbooking scraplift challenge! This month we?re being inspired by Kimberley (a.k.a. greenmother)! Each month we feature a QT from Suzy?s Creative Team and challenge you to scraplift one of the QT?s layouts from their gallery at Scrap Orchard.
If you?re new to scraplifting, here?s a definition by SuzyQ herself:
?Scraplifting is when you borrow some or all of an already-created layout to inspire your own layout. It can be a close copy, like using their layout as a sketch or template, or it may simply be the idea or theme of the layout that you mimic. If you layout is inspired by another layout, it?s good to make a note of that in the comments in the gallery. A simple ?Inspired by LAYOUT NAME by LAYOUT ARTIST? is usually sufficient. A link back to the original layout is always nice. ?
I asked QT Kimberley a few questions so we can get to know her a little better as a digital scrapbooking artist!
Why do you scrapbook?
Like many of us, I am a creative person and scrapping feeds my creative hunger & relaxes me. But creative need is only a very small part of why I scrap. I scrap because I am a memory keeper and my family?s historian. For me, scrapping is an unspoken committment to my family and myself. I truly believe that shared family stories and recorded memories help maintain strong family bonds. The stories and photos I document remind us of how and why we are family. They invoke memories: memories that ground us in uncertain times and give us comfort, inspiration, pride and a sense of belonging. They celebrate who we are: they remind us of where we?ve been and how far we?ve come. If I had to sum it up in one sentence I would say: I scrap because I love my family ? for who we are individually and the collectiven adventure we share.
What?s your favorite part of being on Suzy?s creative team?
Hmmm?..my favorite part? My favorite part of being on Suzy?s creative team is knowing that I work for and with a phenomenal group of uber-talented, fun, creative, smart, organized, appreciative and genuinely nice ladies. The sense of community and pride (both in team and self) that Suzy fosters makes being a QT a true honor.
